World Youth Day

Krakow 2016
Pope Francis recently announced that the 2016 World Youth Day will take place in Krakow, Poland. The theme for this World Youth Day is, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy” (Matthew 5:7). The location is significant as Blessed John Paul II was born in Poland and was the Archbishop of Krakow prior to his election as pope. The them is additionally important as St. Faustina is also a native of Poland. Blessed John Paul II made her the first saint to be canonized in the new millennium, and described her as the “great apostle of Divine Mercy in our time.”

Traveling with the Diocese of Sioux City
World Youth Day is scheduled for the end of July 2016. The Diocese of Sioux City will be taking a group of approximately 30 pilgrims to Krakow to join Pope Francis and the World Youth Day celebrations. Our group will be staying in a hotel close to the events of World Youth Day.
