Marriage Prep

In the Sacrament of Marriage, God seals a baptized man and woman in a lifelong union of faithful and fruitful love, as a sign of Christ’s love for His bride, the Church. To uphold the beauty and sacredness of Marriage, best efforts are made to prepare engaged couples for a joy-filled Sacramental Marriage.

The preparation period is suggested to be nine months (but a minimum of six months may be used). This is calculated from the date of the initial meeting with the pastor or his delegate.

The components for Marriage preparation are:

Marriage Prep Option 1:

    FOCCUS premarital inventory
Called to the Wedding Feast (CTWF)
    Walking in Love (WIL)
    NFP Classes

Marriage Prep Option 2:

    FOCCUS premarital inventory
catholicmarriageprep.com (to fulfill CTWF & WIL)
    NFP Classes

The FOCCUS Premarital Inventory assists the couple in appraising and weighing their own vision of Christian marriage, and helps them to understand the importance of good communication and mutual understanding in the preparation process and beyond.

Option 1: Online registration & payment also available.

“Called to the Wedding Feast” (CTWF) – Rooted in Scripture and Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, this class explores the deeper meaning of the words “I Do,” and the tremendous mystery that is Matrimony.

“Walking in Love” (WIL) – Building on the foundation laid in CTWF, this practical class discusses issues such as effective and loving communication, conflict resolution, and managing resources. It can be taken in a class setting or one on one with a volunteer married couple.

Option 2: If you are looking to fulfill the requirements for CTWF and WIL but your schedule or other circumstances make it difficult to attend the monthly classes, you may want to consider marriage prep through catholicmarriageprep.com

Natural Family Planning All engaged couples must attend Natural Family Planning classes from one of the methods listed on the Diocesan NFP brochure. Some of these classes may take up to 3-4 months to complete.
