Physical and cognitive requirements include sedentary work [sitting, walking, standing], some travel for evening and weekend meetings, a wide range of intellectual and practical problem-solving skills; non-verbal symbolism; and comprehension of complex concepts. Full time position avalable to energize and engage parishioners through music and liturgy for all parish celebrations according to the Rituals of the Roman Catholic Church [Latin Rite].
Key responsibilities include directing and planning seasonal and regularly-schedules weekend and Holy Day liturgies; recruitment, formation, and scheduling of all liturgical ministers including Readers, Altar Servers, Ushers, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, musicians, Cantors, etc.; assisting with the parish Faith Formation and RCIA/RCIC as needed; assisting with the planning of funerals, weddings, and other special occasions; assisting the parish Liturgy Team; and working in conjunction with the pastor.
Knowledge, skills, experience required or preferred include knowledge and understanding of Roman Catholic Liturgy, minimum of three years’ experience in working with music and liturgy in a parish required, Bachelor’s degree in music preferred, experience in directing choirs, skills as an accompanist (on pipe organ and piano) required, and a Roman Catholic in good standing.
Physical and cognitive requirements include sedentary work [sitting, walking, standing], working at distances close to the eyes; extensive reading and visual interpretation, following written, oral or diagrammatic instructions involving several concrete variables; and some travel for evening and weekend meetings services, and rehearsals.

The Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, IA is seeking a full-time Director of Sacred Music. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the planning and execution of sacred music for liturgies of the Cathedral Parish, which also includes St. Boniface and St. Joseph Churches.
Essential functions include but are not limited to plan the music for Masses in English, Spanish, and in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, as well as lead most liturgies. Schedule musicians for liturgies not led by the Director of Sacred Music; direct, promote, and oversee Cathedral choral program(s); serve as principal musicians at all Episcopal Liturgies; oversee the maintenance and upkeep of musical instruments; oversee formatting and printing of worship aids; meet with couples planning weddings; meet with families planning funerals, in coordination with the priests; work with Bishop Heelan High School to plan, and occasionally lead, school Masses; and other duties as assigned.
