A Message from Bishop Nickless

September 2018

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As I reflect on the past year and the current state of our Diocese, I’m filled with optimism and excitement.  While nearly every parish community has undergone some level of change as a result of our pastoral planning (Ministry 2025), I believe we are well-positioned for the future.  Now is the time for us to come together – united by our beautiful Catholic faith – to love and support each other as we work to build up the Church in the Diocese of Sioux City.  To that end, I invite each of you to open your hearts and minds to the plans God has for you, your parish family and our Diocese.

As we continue this new time of revitalization, I ask you to remember the blessings you have been given with a grateful heart, and to consider ways you can share those blessings.  I’m thankful that God blessed us with five new permanent deacons and three transitional deacons, all of whom I had the great privilege of ordaining this past spring.  Please pray for them as they begin their ministry.

I count on your help to ensure that the Diocese of Sioux City continues to flourish.  Please give as generously as you can to the 2018-2019 Diocesan Annual Appeal. Your donation will help us continue the important work of the Church, to embrace our Lord Jesus through vocations, education and evangelization.  Thank you for your support!

Your brother in Christ,

Most Reverend R. Walker Nickless
Bishop of Sioux City
